Birmingham News (AL) - January 6, 2007 Deceased Name: COX, JOE SIDNEY COX, JOE SIDNEY passed away at his home on January 4, 2007. Retired from the US Air Force. Retired painter after 35 years of service. Lifetime member of the American Legion and DAV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Nell Baggett Cox of Chalkville, AL and his brother, Charles Cox. He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Mary "Lou" Cox; his eldest son, Jeffery Cox and Jerrell Cox (Victoria); sister, Martha Cox Bradford; 3 grandchildren, Lynn, Niki, and Sidney; 5 great grandchildren and one specially loved great granddaughter, Crystal Dawn; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernie Cooper of Pelham, Earl and Virginia Cooper of Oneonta, AL, Edith Cooper of Columbus, MS, Lovella Reese of Birmingham, AL, and Betty Cox of Arkansas; neices and nephews, Bill, Bob, Johnny, Ben, Brad, Lanett, Bruce, Jimmy, Brian, Daren, Dustin, Lanell, Kevin, Del, Beverly, Michael, David, Laverne, Teresa, Alan, Robert, and his buddy, Grissom; adopted daughters, Ramona Jane (Tommy) Harmon and Cathi Cunningham. Graveside services will be Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 3:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until service time at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
