Does anyone have any information about the ancestors & OR descendants of this family you can share? This is the family of Capt. John Samuel Cowen (who served for the British in the Revolutionary War) and his wife Mary Mueller who was from Boston. Mary's father was a Boston, MA merchant and supported the Patriots. Therefore, he forbade the marriage of Mary to Capt. John Samuel Cowen, who the captain met while serving in Boston. When the war was over, the captain returned to Boston for Mary and they eloped to Chambersburg, PA. Why Chambersburg? Did the captain have family or land there? Who were Mary's parents? Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
