I just obtained a copy of my 5th great grandfather's will from Iredell County, NC dated 1806. Included in this will of Richard Lewis are three daughters: Esther Lewis Cowan, Hannah Lewis Cowan, and Rachel Lewis Cowan. Other names associated with this family are Hannah Loftin, Sarah Adams, Ruanna Fleming, Elenor McKnight, and Enos and Elizabeth Lewis Sherrill. I am descended from the marriage of Richard's daughter Elenor to David McKnight. Many members of this family moved to the Rutherford, Wilson, and Cannon County areas of TN. I have lots of information on the McKnights and Sherrills, but I have not been able to locate anything on the daughters who married Cowan's. Does anyone know what happened to these daughters?
