What we know and can source, and cite from the US Census conducted by the federal government for Rosa Ella Cohen, whose married name is (Robinson)of the "Santee" area* of Georgetown, SC. Rosella Cohen b. 1872, appears in the US Census at age 8 as the daughter of Joseph Cohen b.1812, and 68 years old, and Joseph's wife Martha b.1826, is 54 years old. I think Joseph and Martha are Rosa Ella's grandparents. Otherwise, Martha would have been age 46, and Joseph would have been age 60 when Rosa Ella was born. It is quite common for grandchildren to be in the household of grandparents, because they cared for the grandchildren while mom and dad worked. I think the census enumerator made an error recording Rosa Ella as Joseph's daugther, instead of grand-daughter. Possible dad's of Rosa Ella Cohen b.1872 of Georgetown, SC are: (1)George Cohen b.abt.1840, "cripple", wife Alice b.1850 and living in "Santee". (2)Benjamin Cohen b.abt.1847 and wife Caroline b.1840 of Georgetown, SC living in "Santee". (3)Daniel Cohen b.1849, and wife Sillah b.1849 of Georgetown, SC and living in "Santee". Fraser Robinson b.1884-d.1936 of Georgetowon, SC m. Rosa Ella Cohen b.1871-d.1952, of Georgetown, SC. Note: My Cohen family members are also from the Santee and Black River area* of Georgetown, SC and are non-white.
