Hi Sherry, His death cert gives his birth date as July 23, 1896 in Collin Co., TX, parents as Taylor Coffey, born TX and Mary Elizabeth Snider, also born TX. The informant was Mrs. Jess Coffey of 412 S. Tenn. St. in McKinney. He died on Jun. 9, 1944, and was buried Jun. 10, 1944 at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney. Having said all that, the death certificate also gives his age at death as 48 yrs., 10 mos., and 16 days. Calculating that from his death date gives a birth date of Jul. 24, 1895. I have found that when yr., mos., and days are given, they often do not calculate out to equal the birth date provided. I have also noticed that many men when registering for the draft in WW1 reported an incorrect birth date.
