Colonel John Trousdale Coffee (1818-1890) resigned his commission in the CSA after General Jo Shelby was given his command after the Battle of Newtonia Missouri. Col.Coffee moved to Brownsville, Texas in anticipation of continuing the war in Mexico with Maximillian's Army. He finally moved to Georgetown,Texas and became a successful goat farmer. He is buried in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Grorgetown, TX.
