Pat,
Julia Whelchel was the second wife of Edward Coffee. Edward Coffee was my great great uncle. Edward Coffee was born in 1851 in Georgia, and his first wife was Martha Hulsey (1854-1877). They had three daughters: Mary P. Coffee (Born in Georgia in 1873), Emma P. Coffee (Born in Georgia: 1875-1912) and Martha P. Coffee (Born in Georgia:1877-1971). Edward's first wife died in March of 1877, a month after their youngest daughter Martha was born. Martha Coffee and two of her daughters are buried in Hall County, Georgia where they were from. I don't know where the third daughter, Mary is buried.
In 1879, Edward Coffee married Judith Frances (Julia) Whelchel in Hall County, Georgia. They had two sons: Joe Coffee, born in Hall County, Georiga in 1880, and Mack Coffee, born in Arkansas in 1888. They had one daughter, Maggie Coffee, born in 1884 in Hall County, Georgia.
In 1889, Edward Coffee was killed in an accident (I don't know how)in Arkansas.
In 1892, Julia Whelchel Coffee married Marion Grant in Arkansas. I think there were children born to Julia and Marion Grant, but I'm not sure.
I hope this helps.
If you know how Edward Coffee died, please let me know. I have found that he went to Arkansas to work on a farm where one of his brothers was an overseer. I'm trying to find out what brother it would have been. Edward Coffee had seven brothers and two sisters, and one of his brother's is my great grandfather.
