Linda, How do you say Eureka, I've found it and make sense of anything further??? I think that our forefathers paths were one and the same back in the good old days.
My grandfather was born May 28, 1891 and if dates are anything to rely on, his father would have probably had him at just about that time, IF he were the James that was born in 1856. That would have made him about 35 yrs of age when he sired young Norman. And that was about the right age of being a father to a family in those days. My grandfather was born in (Gdon?) Davis County, in Southwestern Indiana. James Calvin was living at the time of Norman's marriage (1912), in Grand Junction CO and was a merchant. He was born in KY. Date unknown. My grandfathers mother was a Martha Jane Fickes. She was born in Leadville CO. If any of this rings true, please let me know, but from what you have written here, I think that we are from the same family back when. Do you know if there were any other brothers. And could you give me any other info on the family??? I am trying to break a brick wall down and what you have told me helps a very lot. Thanks so much for any other help you can shed on this perplexing family. My grandfather went by the name of Norman Francis, however, on his SS index, he is listed as Francis Norman. I also have all the info on his family from his marriage to my grandmother forward. There were 4 children, Norman Jr., Marjorie, Dorothea, and my mother, Barbara. My mother was the only one to have children out of that family. Myself, born in 1945, my brother Timothy, born in 1947, and my youngest brother, Norman, born in 1950. We each have children and grandchildren. If you are interested, I will fill you in on all of them.
