I strongly suspect that Abel is the son of JAMES CLAPP & DEBORAH SMITH from North Castle, Westchester,New York. She was the daughter of ABEL SMITH, SR, & BATHSHEBA HUTCHINGS. James and Deborah lived with Abel right before they died. The line I am following is thus: James Clapp m. to Deborah Smith Abel Smith Clapp m. to Clarissa ? Henry Bennett Clapp m. to Sarah Halsted Rev.Franklin Halsted Clapp, Sr. m. to Marie Wolcott Welles Some of these people are buried in the Marble Cemetery in NYC at the Clapp plot and at Woodlawn Cemetery also in the Clapp plot. Would be glad to share other information on this line. Would also like to validate connection to James who originated in Westchester and find Clarissa's last name. Suzanne Welles
