I totally agree with your statement regarding "Jr." prior 1900. However, most people of today aren't aware of the pre-1900 usage of "Jr." Also, the person who added "Jr." to that particular person's name really meant that the younger person had all identical names of the father.

The person mentioned above who made the claim also made many more claims that have been debunked by courthouse records and many other records.

Thank you for mentioning that "Upto perhaps 1900 Jr. did not mean "son of".
Hopefully, your statement will be read by countless researchers and we can also hope they will learn that two persons who may live close to each other with identical names may or may not be relatives.
