Gary - Without seeing his records or his pension application, which I do not have access to, this is just purely educated speculation. If he is the individual identified earlier as being a private in Co. A, 15th Maine Inf., the best chance of him suffering a gunshot injury in 1864, in Maryland, would have been during the period of July 14 - 24, when four companies of the 15th were in pursuit of Jubal Early in Maryland immediately after the Battle of Monocacy. (See link below). The 15th does not appear in the Order of Battle for Monocacy, but were apparently ordered to take part in the pursuit after the battle. These companies were led by Murray and Drew. Although I cannot find a source that identifies the companies involved, Murray, a Lt. Col., was originally the Captain of Company A, so it would make sense to me that Company A was a part of this operation. I also could not find out if they were involved in any skirmishes during this operation, but they may have been, and he may have suffered his injury then. Otherwise, they were mostly in camp.
