Hi Nancy, further to Williams post... have you ever thought of joining the Chisholm DNA project, this is the project which sorts out lines of kinship. Although the project is still in its early stages, we are seeing at least 4 different genetic lines emerging in the southern states of the USA.... to join you would have to do it by proxy, getting one of your Chisholm named male relatives to do the test, which examines the Y-Chromosome,thereby excluding woman from testing, but ot from being active particpants in the project, many woman have already become part of the project by getting fathers, brothers, uncles , or male cousins to provide the samples. Included in the project are members whose family trees take them back to the very early settlers of Virginia, bearing in mind that in many cases the links are unverifiable by standard genealogical methods, so the DNA project is going to help out there as well.
