Southern Chandlers are not my area, but I found William Pless Chandler on Ancestry. He may be your guy. He is also listed on Rootsweb, but without as much detail. If you use the advanced search function and put death place Pickens you will find him. The Rootsweb Tree has his wife and descendants listed. You can check it out to see if that is your guy.

This was from Ancestry:

Birth: dd mm 1868 - White, GA (Georgia)
Death: date - city, Pickens, South Carolina
Spouse: name surname

Censuses and trees often have mistakes in them, so you have to do a broader search. Sometimes nicknames or initials are used which makes searching more difficult.

DNA testing also may help you find which Chandler family that you belong to. It is a painless, swab to the inside of the cheek and drop in a mailer kind of test. It is also confidential. If you would like to find out more about DNA testing and the early arriving Chandler families go to our web page www.edmundchandler.com. Look on the left hand side and click DNA results. Neither we nor our sister group, The Chandler Family Association, have any financial interest in DNA testing. Our sister group, the CFA, (www.thecfa.org) is more oriented to southern Chandlers. You can post a query on their board if you wish.

Happy hunting,
