According to the New England Gen. & Historical Soc. there is a major problem proving that EXPERIENCE (BLISS) CHAFFEE'S Mother was Miriam Harmon. In their July 1995 issue it states in part (pg #216)
"There is no evidence that Rachel's (Bliss)'s mother, Miriam (Harmon) Bliss, had a brother (or nephew) William. Miriam's marriage (ca.1648) to Jonathan Bliss (son of Thomas) of Braintree and Rehoboth is almost certainly associated, not with the presence of a Harmon family at Rehoboth (which there is no record), but with the marriage of her only known brother, Nathaniel Harmon and Jonathan's SISTER Mary Bliss, bother of Braintree. The only Harmon recorded at or near Rebhoboth is the latter couple's apparently unmarried son Ephraim, who was buried there in 1683, age 26. NOT A SINGLE RECORD OF HAMON(D)-BLISS CONTACT HAS BEEN FOUND."
Just thought for those who did not have this information would like to know what the latest research says regarding Jonathan Chaffee's wife. Until actual proof is found, if ever, Mariam Hamon should not be included in the lineage.
