lice Mary Cate, age 93, of 479 Lakewood Lane, Marquette, died on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at her home after a short illness. She was born on May 21, 1912 in Herkimer, New York to Thomas and Mary (Lewis) Rich. Her husband, Clifford K. Cate preceded her in death on August 12, 1973. She is survived by three children, Caroline Heimer of New Braunfels, TX, Clifford K. (Janice) Cate of Muskogee, OK and Julian R. Cate of Marquette; also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was born to a large and respected family of Herkimer, New York. She and her husband, Clifford, lived in Texas and New Mexico before coming to Marquette in 1967. She was employed at Silver Creek Elementary School's hot lunch program under Mr. Brami from 1976 to 1986. She was also one of the directors of Tot Lot. Friends may call at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 2 p.m. in St. Louis the King Catholic Church with the Rev. Benedetto Paris officiating. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer, New York. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Michael Heimer and Clifford Cate III. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to U.P. Home Health and Hospice or St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Mrs. Cate's memory. |
