Dear Pam please cut and paste the above it will be easier to read

I think this may be John's father and mother, their ages would be about right that is 25/23 when John was born. Are any of John's children called Peter or Martin?
Co Cavan is a Northern County in Ireland which is part of the province of Ulster (9 counties) which also includes the 6 counties of Northern Ireland. It was and is in the Free State later known as Eire or the Republic of Ireland.

Google the census of Ireland and you can look at the whole population of Ireland in both 1901 and 1911. I looked for Matthew in 1911 but was not able to locate him, he may have died or he may have moved away for work (according to this family details he would have been 70)

This is the web site of the above record

Carroll I think is on e of the 20 most common names in Ireland they fall into two main groups Co Offaly and Co Louth which is very close to Co Cavan

Oh my mum came from the other group from the far South below Co Offaly

I hope this is useful

Good Hunting

John
