Thanks for th enote - but no, I don't think you are our group. My William Carroll was born in Virginia and married Sarah Sheridan in lived in Natchitoches, Louisiana. They had 3 children: James Madison (my GG Grandfather who married Elizabeth Boland), Caroline E. (married to Dr. Fountain McDonald) and Eliza (married Charles Long). We're having the same problem with our William also. Can't find anything on him prior to his arrival in Louisiana. However, it might be of interest to you to check out www.thecolefamily.com/hobby/carrollwill.htm which is the Will of a William Carroll, Sr. out of North Carolina AND the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (www.drt.org-inc.org) and click on Chapters. Their chapter in Center is named "William Carroll Crawford". Also, on the DRT site, if you check out the already proven ancestors, you will note that there are 3. You might be lucky and one of those be a relation.
