I have chased my grandchildren's CARRELL line back to Thomas CARROLL b. abt 1810 SC. His wife was listed as Elley, Elsey and Ailcy according to various census'.

On-line at Heritage Quest there are only five CARROLL listed in the 1820 census of SC (no CARRELL).
They were Bartholemew over 45, wife over 45 - 5 children
James P. over 45, wife 26-45, 7 children
Thomas 16-26, wife 16-26 - 1 child
these three were in Charleston Dist.

Thomas Carroll over 45 in York Dist., no family

Thomas Carroll in Barnwell 26-45, wife 16-26 - 3 children

Of these, I think James P. Carroll is more likely to be the father of Thomas and his probable brother, Jesse b. abt 1797. Both Thomas and Jesse were in Oktibbeha Co., MS for the 1850 and 1860 census. There was a Jane Carroll in the same censuses b. abt 1792 that I suspect was their mother. Are any of these people in your data?

This family was later in Delta Co., TX, some grandchildren were said to have been born in Van Zandt Co., TX and some descendants ended up in Hardin and Tyler Co., TX.
