I'm trying to find out information about the family of Solomon Carmack (who had a daughter, Celia, who married Lewis Cox in 1811). I suspect that my g-g-g-grandfather was a son of Lewis Cox and Celia Carmack. His name was Eli Cox. He names one of his daughters Celia and there is a court record showing that he was involved in some court case involving the settlement of the property of Hollon Carmack. I found this on NCGenWeb: STATE DOCKET, SUPERIOR COURT LENOIR COUNTY, SEPTEMBER TERM AD 1842 3.2 series - Folder 710 ********* DOE on DEMISE OF HOLLON CARMACK vs ROW ELI COX & SOLOMON W. CARMACK - Ejectment NOTE: On 1850 Census, Eli Cox lives just a few houses down from Solomon Carmack. This would not be the Solomon, father of Celia. This would probably be Celia's brother. ============================================== Does anyone have any information about the Carmack or Cox families and/or how they interrelated? Also, does anyone have any further information or understanding about the court record I listed above? Thanks in advance! Sara Whitford Vanceboro, NC |
