Maria Ida Herrgot, born 8 June 1878, daughter of Jonas Herrgot, farmer, and Ludowina Meyer; informant was the father of St. Clements Post Office, Wellesley Township, Waterloo County, Ontario.
1881 Canadian Census
Wellesley Township, Waterloo County, Ontario
Herrgott, Jonas, aged 29, born Ontario, Roman Catholic, farmer, married
Herrgott, Ludwina, aged 29, born Ontario, married
Herrgott, Carolina, aged 4, born Ontario
Herrgott, Ida, aged 2, born Ontario
Herrgott, Leander, aged 11 months, born Ontario
The correct German spelling would be with double "rr" and double "tt".
In 1901, Jonas & Ludwina are in Waterloo County with several more children, but Ida is not with them.
The 1861 census has Jonas living at home with his parents, John & Margaret, who both give their birthplace as France. This would lead me to believe that they were from the region of Alsace Lorraine which changed hands between France and Germany many times over the years.
Jonas has several older siblings (as per 1851/52 census).
