Hi Esther,

I fund the family in census records so will give you those first and then see if that helps in finding Elizabeth/Mary with her parents earlier on. I think you can be pretty confident that she was born in NY as that is her birthplace shown in all of the census below from 1900-1940

so 1900 shows Mary Elizabeth had already had 4 children 1 living - yet in 1910 it shows 4 children born 3 living so ?? I've seen the same sort of errors before in census records - I suppose it depended on who gave the info and on how the enumerator heard it and wrote it down.

Normally the next available census would be 1880 but NY had a state census in 1892 so I;m going to look for Mary Elizabeth there also - I am guessing she was born and lived in Buffalo ? I have not found her yet but found William

1892 NEW YORK STATE CENSUS - BUFFALO, ERIE
REGELIN
William, age 26, peddler, born Germany

no family with him. But this does seem to show that he must have married Elizabeth/Mary in Buffalo.

I went to 1880 to look for Elizabeth and looked for her both as Elizabeth and as Mary and as Schaub and Schwab but did not find any that I could be sure of.

I found a tree that says her parents were Edmund and Ruth but they show no sources for that and I could not find a couple of that name in NY.

I am assuming ?? that William and Elizabeth both likely died in Buffalo so maybe you could get their death records from the Erie County records office and hopefully hers would include her parents names or maybe they will have their marriage record.
