William, I believe this to be correct. Johns' daughter Mary Jane McDermott was married for a time, had a son named Frederick John Smith born Dec. 8, 1893 Ottawa. He was baptized at St. Patricks R.C. church Jan. 7, 1894. Mary Jane, the mother ran off to Montreal with a trapeze artist and the little boy lived with the Senior McDermotts until he died May 31, 1900 at age six years.
