almost given up on records - but here goes again: My gg grandmother Maria Ash Pike was, by my grandmothers and great grandmothers statements "Indian" - the photos clearly look full Indian as they said and I have detailed statements and letters to this effect plus greatgrandmas mocs etc. The genealogy officially done through Carbonear does not do anything but confuse my family connection- there is a James Pike and a James Joesph Pike each married to an Elizabeth Ash with a daughter baptized as Maria Ash Pike - same name - 1835ish a year apart ... most assume it is the same child .. but most insist not Indian. I know my Maria Ash Pike was Aboriginal... any help? I was told an Edward Jameieson from Hants Harbour "years ago" wrote a paper on the Ash - Indian connection at MUN. But I have had no luck finding this. Any one know of any early Ash or Pike connections besides my family? Would be early 1800s - one story was clear on regular trips up and down the St Lawrence from Bonavista Bay. Maria married James Mark Hancock then they moved to USA - Boston 1880s...
