In a side branch of my family tree I have a John R Wiglesworth and wife Florence, who left Winnipeg in 1909 and settled in the Okanagan with their 1-year old son Frederick. They make an appearance in the 1911 Census. Florence died in 1945 and the announcement in the Toronto Star (she was born there in 1880) mentioned Frederick and also a daughter Ann Marion. Ten years later, in 1955, John appears in a ship's passenger list, travelling with a young lady by the name of Ann Wiglesworth. Her birth date on the ship's register is December 4, 1931. If she's the same Ann, her mother would have been 51 when she gave birth. Since birth records are not available for this time, and the lady is conceivably still with us on earth, how could I make enquiries? Might there have been a birth announcement in a local newspaper? The family lived in the Spallumcheen district in the '20s and then the Penticton area in the late '30s. Any ideas gratefully received.
