James William Pankhurst, the pottery manufacturer of Hanley, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, England, was the brother of my great great great grandfather, Adam Pankhurst and also of Henry Francis Pankhurst, the father of Richard Marsden Pankhurst who married Emmeline Goulden. Emmeline was the suffragette and mother of Christabel and Sylvia who were instrumental in getting votes for women in the UK. JWP seems to have exported most of his pottery to Canada and the USA from about 1850 to 1880. He was the eldest of 14 children of a Cheshire schoolmaster named Francis James Pankhurst. JWP was born in Clerkenwell, London in 1807. The family seems to have originated in Kent. I do hope this helps.
