Brenda: So far no luck with the California Death Index for your mother with the name of Gloria Jean Smith. I have a few other questions if you do not mind. Is the boyfriend she had when she died and who gave the information for the death record still living, are you in contact with him? Do you think he could (or would) helpl us? Also do you know the name and address of the person who cremated her mother (the company or funeral director)? I am going to call our local funeral home (who we have had too much business with in the past few years) and ask what the procedure is to who is responsible for making sure the official death record is sent to the correct address to record the death with the state. Also, please send again your mother's maiden name and what your grandmother's maiden name is if known (that is your mother's mother.)My mother has been gone since 1959.
