Sherrie: The last place we have Grace Gail Stockwell living (and which I have a letter written to her family in California) was in New York City. A letter from a close friend of hers sent from Boston, Mass. told her family that Grace Gail Stockwell died October 12, 1948 on the outskirts of New York. Shortly after that her family in California received a letter from her friends living in New York City asking about Grace Gail Stockwell..that she had not been seen "in a while." They did not know that Grace had been reported dead. Grace Gail Stockwell also went by the name Gail Stockwell. She wrote several mystery books and had them published under the name Gail Stockwell and at least one under the name of Grace Stockwell. Why did a friend in Boston know that she had died and not her close friends in New York? Social Security records, death records from at least 16 states on the the East Coast and other areas have been checked..no luck! No one has heard from Grace Gail Stockwell since the lady from Boston wrote the letter...no one. Thanks for the help. Bobbie
