I found them in the State Census of San Diego County date of Sept. 1852 pg 35 S. S. Reeves is listed under Teamsters USA but no address or location of these men in San Diego Co. Lydia Ann Rives is listed as living with parents John Clementson 53 MW carpenter born in Eng. Res. San Diego her mother is Lydia Clementson FW 51 b. PA res. San Diego Lydia Rives is FW 16 b. MO res. San Diego her sister Dianthe Clementson 13 FW b. IL res,San Diego. In Sacramento at archives I found a newspaper notice in the Alta San Francisco Aug 9 1852 a marriage Notice - "In New San Diego Jul 11, 1852 by Judge J. Judson Ames, Mr Samuel S. Reeves and Miss Lydia Cleminson. This is the first marriage of Americans ever solomnized in New San Diego" I understand that J.P. posted marriages when they got to court but is there any place where Judge J. Judson Ames records are stored or whatever. I would like to document their marriage with a record instead of a newspaper notice if possible. In the 1860 Census they are living in El Monte Twp, Los Angeles Co. The marriage was first written about in the diary of their wagon train trip over the Santa Fe Trail and when they arrived etc and I have been researching the family and documented some info. Always looking for more. |
