Ruth Chesbrough Rainier Weeks was my Grand-Aunt. Her life was amazing- filled with adventures in Egypt, France, California, and many places aroiund the world. She had a brother, George Myrick Weeks (my grandfather). She died in San Diego in 1991, where she lived with her youngest son, Chester Chesbrough (d.1997) for many years in a Victorian house filled with curiosities accumulated over many, many decades. At the time of her death, she had completed a novel about her life as a young adult in Egypt in the 1920's and 30's, which was never published (HOWEVER, I have a typed 300+ page manuscript which I intend to scan one day soon).

I'm sure by now you've already researched her 2nd husband, author Peter W. Rainier, an adventurer from the same mold as Indiana Jones, who wrote the novel Green Fire, which was turned into a movie with Grace Kelly. Little known fact: Peter died in a hotel fire in Winnipeg in 1946, which haunted Ruth for the rest of her days. I never met Ruth, but I heard she was an incredibly kind and worldly woman. My grandfather did not speak much about her, but he was fond of her. George Weeks passed in November 1997. Her son Chester used to send my sister and I many odd gifts from their shared collection (hoarde) of curiosities, including an old camera with undeveloped film from the 1940's, a dollhouse, and the notorious "half package of fine French soaps" (the other half was shipped to my unlce George Weeks Jr. Here's the link to some scanned images of an article written about her:

I hope I shed some new light on Ruth Weeks for you. Also, you may want to read this short bio on Peter Rainier for additional information:
