MARSH-- In this city, 8/11/1913, George W. Marsh, husband of Katta Marsh, father of Arnie L. and Dr. Otto Marsh, Mrs. Lillian A. Culver and Mrs. Modesta Baxter of San Diego and Mrs. George Renz of Nebraska, brother of Mrs. Emma Thebo of Encinitas, CA and Wallace Marsh of Kansas City; a native of New York, 67y, 6m, 15d. Announcement of funeral services will be made later by Johnson, Connell, and Saum.
George W. Marsh, resident since 1884, died of apoplexy. Had a severe stroke 2 weeks ago, followed by a second one on Friday, left him unconscious until death.
Born NYC in 1846, entered the drug business as a young man, served as a druggist in the Civil War, 8th Batter, Wisconsin Light Artillery. 1870's, manufacturer of drugs in Kansas City.
Coming to SD in 1884 for his health, opened a drug store at 7th and E Sts. Later he bought the property on 7th and F. St, where Marsh Drug Store stands. He sold the business 8 years ago and retired.
In 1885 he married Miss Katta Wilhelmi of Washington, MO....Interment Odd Fellows' Cem.

A picture of the imposing house that George W. Marsh built on the e. side of 16th St, between E and F Sts, for $6000. 3 retaining walls were built at a cost of $1000.
