I am searching for information about my Grandfather’s sisters family who migrated to San Diego in California USA.
Lillian Hall ( Nee Billington) was the daughter of Walter Billington and Kate Adelaide Simpson, she had 2 brothers Walter Cyril ( who died in the Somme WWI) and Raymond , died 1966 in UK.
Lillian born about 1891 married Henry (Harry) Hall , she had 3 children Kenneth (abt1920), Leslie (abt 1921), both born in UK and Irene (Abt 1927), born in USA. Sadly Leslie dies in the UK at a young age.
Following Raymond’s death, our family lost contact but what we know is the family settled in Sand Diego , on Potomac Avenue.
Kenneth married Phyllis (?) and Irene took to life on Stage, featuring as one of the Chorus Girls in the 1951 movie show boat, but also in the stage show of the same name that toured the UK in the 40’s. I managed to track this show to the Manchester Opera House. We believe Kenneth may have worked at Macys in San Diego at some point.
We have some old family photos but not much more.
Would love to know what happened to them , especially given that Lillian was one of only 3 children.
From researching I found that Harry/Henry Travelled to USA in 1924 , one assumes to find work . he is listed as travelling on the Caronia from Liverpool and arriving in New York 30th December 1924.
On entry to USA, Henry states he is a mechanic and gives his brothers address as Mr W Hall 4019 Centre Street San Diego ( now CA 92103)
(For some reason his wife is listed as M Hall, 9 High Brighton Street Withernsea and as far as we know she did not have a middle initial, so we assume this to be a typing error)
I managed to obtain the records from Ellis island but have only ‘vague’ information on Lillian’s crossing possibly in 1927 ( aboard the St Louis)
And that is all I have.
Would be great if anyone could help futher.
