I am not related, just trying to assist. The 1920 Census of San Francisco, San Francisco County, CA ED202 shows:

279 Sutter Street, San Francisco:

Leisen, Frank, Head of Household, Male, 47, married, b. MN, parents born Germany, Day Clerk, Hotel

Leisen, Gertrude A., Wife, Female, 37 (could be 27, but I doubt it), married, b. MN, parents born Germany, occ: none

Rathbun/Rathburn? Jennie A., Companion, female 35, single, b. MN, parents born MN, occupation: nurse/hospital

It is certainly possible that Gertrude was ill and died before Frank. It appears someone in the household was ill in 1920, or why would they have a nurse companion living there.

I could not find this family in the 1930 census in California.

Best Wishes.
