Seeking information about marriage of Elizabeth 'Betty' or 'Betsy / Betsey' GRIFFIN, b. circa 1755-1775 m. [John?]BUTLER, both perhaps of Laurens, Laurens District, South Carolina.

Elizabeth GRIFFIN BUTLER was enumerated in the will of her father, Anthony GRIFFIN, b. circa 1736, w/s 1797, Laurens District South Carolina; her mother is believed to have been Mary Ann PINCKNEY /PINKNEY, b. circa 1740.

Anthony GRIFFIN obtained a land grant for 150 Acres in Berkley County in the fall of 1768, and was enumerated in land grants for other property owners in 1769 and 1770 as residing on a branch of Mudlick Creek, first in Berkley County, SC, and later in Craven County, SC...

A John BUTLER was enumerated in the 1790 US Federal Census Report, residing in Laurens District, SC, Roll: M637_11; Image: 0253 with household enumerated as 131,00--one adult male over 16 years of age, three males between 0-16 years of age, born 1775-1790; and one female. He was residing near or next to the household(s) of Anthony GRIFFIN, 312,01; Peter GRIFFIN, 224,00; Britain GRIFFIN 101,00; Richard GRIFFIN 574,019....
