Perhaps this will help. I am researching Presley Groves/Groff, son of Iredell Groves who was the son of Abram Groves Jr. Abram Groves Sr divides a tract of land on the Iredell Co NC and Rowan Co NC border in 1804. Adjacent families include ADAMS. Abram Groef/Grove married Mary Adams in Rowan Co NC in 1779. We know that John Adams Jr married Winifred Bussell. Now, from the Rowan County Register, Vol 2 #3 pg 394 is a partial copy of the 1772 Rowan Co Tax List (partial Davidson Co Area) On this list is John Adams and Prusley Bussell Rowan, 1772, Presley Bussell. The Adams are reported to be Scots, Groves/Groff were Swiss Mennonite from Lancaster Co Pa
