Hi, My greatgrandmother was Malinda(Linnie)Browning Williams, she married my greatgrandfather Thomas J. Williams in 1882 at the home of Charity Browning in Macon Co. North Carolina. She was the daughter of James Browning(born abt.1825 probably in what is now Greenville,Spartenburg,Anderson area of SC) wife was Charlotte Hopkins or Hawkins. Other children were Mary Jane, Frances, Caroline and Mary. Don't have much info on Malinda but do know she had 6 children when she married my greatgrandfather. Any info my grandfather might have had about his father or mother was long ago destroyed by fire. Thomas and Linnie only had 2 children, my grandfather and his brother. In the 1870 census James and Charlotte were both listed as born in SC. In this census Malinda was 20 years old, at this time they were living in Cowee.
