If anyone knows of a living male Brown who is a member of the same overall Brown family as the Coleman Brown and the Marval Brown who were associated with the Bramlet family that came into Illinois, he should be encouraged to take the DNA test. There are some clues that suggest that this might have been part of DNA "Group 33" at the Brown Genealogy Society DNA testing project website....but it will take a male Brown DNA donor from the referenced family to confirm or refute that.
This family apparently "traces back" to the Westmoreland/Loundoun/Fauquier Co., VA area....where there was a George Brown (born 1600s), George's son Thomas Brown, Senior (who married a Miss Thornton) and George's grandson Thomas Brown, Junior (who married a Miss Reid, and she was a daughter of a Coleman Reid, as I recall). Thomas Brown, Junior and Miss Reid had a son who was named Coleman Brown.
Note: The unrelated Brown family from Essex Co., VA....and later Spotsylvania/Orange/Culpeper Co., VA....that is represented by DNA "Group 10" also had several men in it who were named Coleman Brown (thanks to the marriage of a Daniel Brown in that family to an Elizabeth Coleman who was a daughter of Robert Coleman and Ann Spilsby). That Brown family should not be confused with the Brown family mentioned above.
