My great grandmother was Harriett Augusta Brewer/Hanson.
On her marriage registration to "Samuel Edgar Brown" of Fredericton Junction, NB, Canada she had her maiden name down as Brewer. Parents William and Martha. I believe she was born in Keswick, NB.
She had 5 children by Samuel but on all their birth registrations she had her maiden name down as "Hanson".
Her children are as follows:
-Ethel Winifred Brown
-Harriett Leola Brown
-Marion Gladys Brown
-Charles Douglas Brown
My grandmother (Gladys) and great aunt (Leola) had their mother down on their marriage registration as "Harriett Augusta Brewer". The other siblings had her down as "Harriett Augusta Hanson".
The only Harriett Augusta Hanson that I can find was at Familysearch and they had her parents down as Levi Hanson and Lucy Jane Jones.
She got married at 20 in 1689. Her christening date with Levi was 17 June 1670 .... 1689-1670=19 So depending on what time of the yr she was born this matches.
We know she had a twin sister and both were given up for adoption but to two different families.
There has been a lot of marriages and intermarriages between the Hanson's and Brewer's so my guess is both girls were given up to family members.
I believe she was a Brewer at birth and adopted by Hanson; but, it is possible it was the other way around. My mother tells me Hattie always said she was of Scanadiavian stock which sometimes makes me think it might be vice versa.
When you get married you usually have to show ID so maybe Brewer was her adopted name if in fact she was legally adopted. If not... then Brewer has to be her birth name.
Does anyone have a similiar story in their tree and are from around the Fredericton, NB area.
