I am looking for a record of Benjamin Franklin Barnett's service in the Black Hawk War in Illinois.
A BLM Land Warrant #44816 dated 2 July 1853 was issued to Hannah Barnett, widow of Benjamin F. Barnett, deceased, Private, Capt. Little's Company, Illinois Militia: Black Hawk War.
The land described as 44.54 acres in Logan Co., IL. Hannah did not keep this land, but reassigned to Wm. King, William Trollopp.
Hannah Barnett is found in Greene Co., IL
1850 Census - Greene Co., IL - 22 Aug 1850 -
BARNETT, Hannah 48 b. SC (nee Taylor)
NIX, John 25 b. IL (son by #1 husb.)
BARNETT, Emeline 15 b. IL
BARNETT, Nancy 13 b. IL
BARNETT, Sarah L. 11 b. IL
BARNETT, Thomas 6 b. MO (Cass Co., MO)
Franklin Barnett is on the 1840 Census in Greene Co., IL, but relocated to Cass Co., Missouri where he may have died. Hannah returned to Illinois with her children as her extended family there and she remarried a 3rd time in 1853 to John C. Barnett.
I would really appreciate help in locating this man's service record. Thanks,
