Ed, Thanks for response. Answering your questions: Wilcocksons of the 1800s were of the Baptist faith. Elijah C. Willcockson deeded the land for the Salem Baptist Church in Liverpool township, south of Bryant, Illinois. Don't believe the church structure exists anymore. Elijah and many other Willcocksons (Wilcoxens, etc) buried there (Salem-Willcoxen Cemetery)
Elijah's grave has a military stone marker indicating his service in the North Carolina Militia in the War of 1812, and in the Illinois Volunteers (militia) during the Blackhawk War. B. 1789, d. 1860. Left many descendants. He was born to Samuel Willcockson and Anna Jordan 7-24-1789 in Ashe County, North Carolina. In a History of Fulton County (Illinois), pub. 1879, much of this info available.
