Hello Glennis Hale from down under.
I've had a few requests from Australia recently asking for info on thier Bermuda ancestors.
First can you tell me please if you have had the priviledge of viewing any of the books put out by Hollis Hallett showing the baptisms, marriages and burials in Bermuda also the Wills and the Bermuda Index books.
I have them all and will do what I can to assist you, but I don't want to do the research if you have already viewed and gathered this info as I know some of the libraries in Australia do have these books on their reference shelves.
Secondly, my own family history is entwinded with the SEON family of Bailey's bay.
My Great-Great-Grandmother, Annie Eliza Gibbons (1827-1911) (she John Wm. Gibson at Seaward in Bailey's Bay in 1847). Annie Eliza became an orphan at the age of six years old and the story goes that two Seon sisters, believed to be school teachers who lived at 'Seaward' in Bailey's Bay are supposedly to have raised her. Upon Annie Eliza having her first daughter in 1857, she named this daughter: Mary Outerbridge Seon Gibson.
I've never been able to prove however, that this is the reason why my great-grandmother had this name.
What is your history thus far - Bermuda connection?
I cannot wait to hear from you. Sincerely, Judy in Bermuda
