Thanks, Bruce, for the eloquent way you described what I tend to believe as well. Many groups of peoples still today depend upon oral histories as, to the best of my knowledge, most Native American tribes did. If you are a nomadic people why would you want to (or HOW could you?) carry your history with you? It is my belief that a great deal of family history is STILL recorded orally. How often do we tell stories of grandfathers/grandmothers and nobody writes down that info? I very much want to claim Little Dove as one of my GGmothers and you have given me a powerful argument to do just that. Also, it helps to hear someone else say that they believe to be true what you yourself believe to be true - know what I mean? I believe Austin and Little Dove were my 12 GGparents, also. We may be cousins or some sort. My connection is roughly through the Bump/us(as) and Brewster lines. How about you?
