I am downsizing and would like to send this 1965 newspaper article to a descendant of this man. "Few Know of Barry - There is a stone in Southwest Washington that honors a man who knew most of the greats of his day, but is, himself, unknown. This is curious, since a street here bears his name, plus a housing development. In addition, the great Gilbert Stuart painted his portrait (pictured) and one of his wife and two daughters." He built Barry Chapel, of St. Mary's Church, at Half and O Sts., SE. No longer standing, but a historic cornerstone (pictured) is in its successor, St. Dominic's at 6th and E Sts., SW. There is further information in the article. I someone can use this, please e-mail me your home address. |
