Ebenezer SMITH and family were enumerated in the census of Arizona Territory, Graham County, Bonita Precinct, ED 49, family #145 as follows:
SMITH, Ebenezer, head, age 40, m. 8 years, b. CA, parents b. ENG; occupation homesteading
SMITH, Lavina M., wife, age 34, b. CA, father b. TX, m. b. CA (my note: probably nee WILSON)
SMITH, Isabelle, dtr, age 5, b. CA, parents b. CA
(Another daughter, Zada, was b. after 1910, may have m. HEYART.)
Immediately next door is Ebenezer's sister Hannah Smith HUNTZINGER FOWLER and family.
In 1916 Ebenezer SMITH received a land patent (homesteaded) in Graham Co AZ, July 22, 1916, as follows: 160 acres, SW Sec 10 Tp 10S R22E, Gila-Salt River Meridian.
This was adjacent to a similar homestead land patent granted August 11, 1916 to his father David SMITH, as follows: 160 acres NW Sec 10 Tp 10S R22E, Gila-Salt River Meridian. At this time it is not known the subsequent fate of this land. David SMITH died at the Sawtelle Soldiers' Home in Los Angeles in February 1916. Ebenezer SMITH moved back to CA, worked for the Kern County Canal & Water Company in 1938, and d. in Kern Co CA 1963. Burial place unknown.
I would deeply appreciate any information on the families mentioned above, particularly if there are any descendants of Ebenezer SMITH to contact. Thanks in advance.
