Hello, I have been going through my book "Du Grand Derangement a la Deportation" Nouvelles perspectives historiques Sous la direction de Ronnie-Gilles LeBlanc; he is the chair for Acadienne Studies at the University of Moncton in Moncton, N.B. The book I mention has the names of the deportees, the heads of the homes, the wives and the children, the date and the ship they were exiled on, port of landing, destination and dates etc etc. The book lists who married whom and where while in exile and it also lists where these families resettled. I have not been able to find any Ayotte/Ayot/Hayot nor Masicottes/Macicot/Massicot listed among those who were deported. I will look again for you because I may have missed a name. I did however find births and marriages in Drouin for some of the people you have named in your post. I also found Thomas Ayotte born circa 1609 in Soligny-la-trappe-eveche Sees, Perche, Mortagne, Orne, France and married 1629 in France to Jeanne Boucher as opposed to the yr 1637 that you have in your post. It is also on PDRH under pioneers. I think the 1629 date is correct because I also found the marriage of Jean Ayotte born circa 1636, Mortagne, eveche Sees, Perche, Mortagne, Orne, France and his marriage date listed as 1653 in Quebec to Louise Pelletier. The PDRH is correct on Jean's yr of marriage because in the church rg for Notre-Dame de Quebec 1621-1671 Pg.142 Jean Hayot married Louise Pelletier d/o Nicolas and Jeanne on 17 November 1653. The Ayotte/Ayot/Hayot family were in Quebec long before the deportation in Acadie took place so I can only surmise if a Hayot descendant was a "refugee" living in Quebec after the deportation he had at some point moved to Acadie where he then met his wife?? I did also go to another one of my source materials that lists all the families that "resettled" in points throughout the province of Quebec after the deportation and again, I did not find anyone with that family name listed among them. That does not however preclude it from being a fact, it may just mean they were somehow over looked. Have you found anything to support that theory since your post? I will continue to look and if I find anything I will be sure to post it to you. I have the Ayotte and Pelletier sur names in my data base/lineage, I was looking for something else today and happened to stumble across your post(s). I am a Guimond by birth and one of my direct ancestors left Quebec in the early 1800's and his sons married acadien women. I come through two of those sons as my paternal grandparents were 3rd cousins both being Guimonds. I live within a 15 minute walk of the University of Moncton and frequent the Acadienne Centre often (addicted to it actually LOL) and I would be happy to do any look-up for you if you would like. Anyway, I wish I could have found something for you today to substantiate your feeling that they were deportees. Hope you are having a great week-end. Regards, Sharron Nadeau, nee Guimond |
