There seems to be some confusion as to who this Maria is - some say she was the wife of Don Francisco Alvarado, but I have been unable to verify this. If this is true, then why would she be listed in the 1900 Census for Colton ,CA as Maria Abile instead of Alvarado. . . The information on the census indicates she was born in 1841 in California and has some connection with the Velarde/Belarde family in the area. Any information will be appreciated.
