thanks Rhonda I have posted a message on a Growing up in Port Augusta board on facebook, there are a few Quorn Locals who may remember Charlie Gordon, both his and his wife Annie's deaths were very tragic. Annie by fire and Charlie was shot within a short time of each other. Yes the dates do fit very well as a the lost brother. a couple of years older than my grandfather. There is also the possibility that the missing son (s) may have been born to an Arabunna woman by the name of Ginny ( remembering too that Ginny was a common slang name for an aboriginal woman. ) Pop Gordon ( my grandfather) grew up on the missions around Maree being only 5 yrs old when his mother died, it is possible that his father may have taken on another woman, but apparently that child was removed. Some of my sources have said that Aboriginal children were not given birth certificates prior to 1970, and those children with White fathers were taken away from their Aboriginal parents. Many fathers didn't sign off or admit due to the prejudices at the time. I had my suspicions a long long time ago of the link with an aboriginal family. My local sources tell me that word of mouth is really the only link people had. so who knows. The plot thickens. I am inclined to think the other children were born after Johns wife Annie died. So looking at the early part of the 20th century.
