Have found some information on Trove, with reference to Billy Potter and Effie Hartwell who had a Vaudeville act.
Some examples are:
The Mercury, Sat May 6, 1911
BKENNAN'S VAUDEVILLE ENTERTAINERS
The Potter-Hartwell Trio created quite a sensation with their farewell act last night at His Majesty's. Miss Effie Hartwell (Mrs Potter) was heaped up with flowers, and they were brought hack seven times to bow their acknowledgment. The agile three have made heaps of friends, who will warmly welcome them back at some future date.
The Advertiser (Adelaide) Monday 22 October,1923
Another Australian who scored a distinct success was Mr. Billy Potter, who appeared with Miss Effie Hartwell in a distinct novelty, in which the male partner did remarkable things with two heads. Miss Hartwell enjoys the distinction of being the only lady who jazzes on her head.
The Brisbane Courier Saturday 18 August, 1923
Miss Effie Hartwell the eccentric little genius in the Potter Hartwell trio at Fullers Theatre this week, enjoys the distinction of being the only woman in tbe world who jazzes on her head. She does not confine her activities in this direction to the stage either. Recently in New York she thrilled a multitude of people by jazzing on her head on the parapet of a 25 story building much to the annoyance of the police who immediately had her arrested. Miss Hartwell is anxious to repeat the stunt in Brisbane but complains that there are no buildings high enough.
Hope this info helps,
