I have been tracing the Hall family (descendants of my grandmother's eldest half brother, William) in the Sydney area. I have just returned from a holiday where I visited William's grave in Rookwood Cemetery. The M.I. provided me with some additional information.
William had a grand-daughter, Gladys. The M.I. says the following about her: "Gladys Hall loved grand-daughter of above died result of accident 12th June 1955 Aged 19 years".
A search of the archive newspapers for this date reveals Gladys fell to her death from a cliff. It provides the additional information that Gladys was "of Leichhardt".
So I now know this family was living at Leichhardt in 1955, and I know it to consist of: Bernard Hall (William's son); Kath (Bernard's wife); their son John, and their daughter Gladys. I know John is younger than Gladys (he was certainly born after 1936), so I assume he would still be living with his parents in 1955.
Are there any resources that would allow me to trace any more details of this family? If it was the UK I would be thinking of things like the electoral register - but I don't know what the equivalents (if any) for Australia are.
Ideally I would like to trace John's descendants (if any) who would hopefully still be around today.
