Anyway, I have just located a death notice in 1899 for John Williams at Kapunda, formerly of Helston, Cornwall. I am now absolutely certain he was your John.

WILLIAMS.-On 28th June, at Kapunda,
John Williams, formerly of Helston, Cornwall,
aged S6, leaving a widow and five children to
moum their loss

The five children - three from his first marriage and two from the second. The child Robert born in SA 1878 died as an infant.

Many Cornish miners or their families eventually went to Broken Hill.
