Thanks for trying, Trish. I did think James was born around 1862. However, he qualified as a physician in 1898, so maybe we was born 1872, which puts the 1920 age on the ship about right. I'm trying to get his marriage certificate from Ireland and that should have his correct age (I hope). James was already in Melbourne in 1907, because he's mentioned in his brother's obit. So he arrived sometime between 1898 and 1907. He could have come as "assisted," but I think it's more likely his brother would have paid his way, if he couldn't afford it himself. When he left Australia in 1913, he left from WA, so I'm wondering if that's where he originally docked, as well.
